Marco Sbardella
Co-founding member of scientia Atque usus Research Center
Ph.D.
Research fellow at Center for Generative Communication of University of Florence.
Professional profile
My research focuses on the relationship between communication, sustainability, and territorial development, aiming to overcome the “Sustainability Paradox” through practices and methodologies capable of co-generating value for communities, organizations, and territories. In my work, I particularly engage in projects in the education and agriculture/rural development sectors.
In schools, we experiment with Generative Writing as a tool for inclusion and the education of critical thinking, designing and implementing both student engagement pathways (see the Letters to a Teacher project) and in-person and online training courses for teachers and school leaders (see the Open Schools project). In the rural context, we develop practices, reflections, and projects to promote sustainable agriculture, attentive to the environmental, social, and economic dimensions of development, in collaboration with organizations such as the Foundation for Climate and Sustainability, the Department of Agricultural, Food, Environmental, and Forestry Sciences and Technologies at the University of Florence, and the Accademia dei Georgofili.
Since the first edition of the Master’s Programme in Medical and Scientific Communication and Health Services at the University of Florence, I have served as a tutor for master’s students, supporting their projects within the master’s pathways organized by the Center. Starting this year, I have also been involved in teaching in the Design and Implementation Laboratory, contributing to the methodological and practical training of participants.
I carry out these research and design activities in continuous dialogue with institutions, schools, organizations, and local actors, following an approach oriented toward cooperation, co-design, and the generation of meaningful connections between knowledge and practice, even in areas that may initially seem unrelated.
